I’ve helped tons of people reach their fitness goals. Below are some of my favorite testimonials. Use the contact box to the right if you’re inspired by their stories and ready to start a journey of your own!
I started working out with Jerry around November 2016. I was 5 foot 6 and weighed about 140 pounds. Now that I’ve almost been with Jerry for a year, its a good time to write down the things that have changed in my life because of it. My first 6ish sessions I either threw up at, threw up after, or felt like I was going to throw up. I’ve always been in alright shape, played sports in high school and I walk all the time. I never pushed myself though (outside of having a coach push me through practice) hence my nausea. I remember my first session, which looking back wasn’t even intense, and I was so embarrassed to have gotten sick in Jerry’s front yard! However, he didn’t make me feel bad and I eventually saw it for what it was: I was really out of shape. That was a clear indication I was where I should be to get to where I wanted to be. Jerry was non threatening and actually reminded me of my older brother, which I think helped kick off our client trainer relationship. My original goal was to be able to hike 6, 7, 8 or more miles and feel like I was in control of it. I have no intentions of being a body builder but there is something about lifting weights thats more empowering to me than going for a jog (which I hate). I’ve learned the correct forms, I’ve learned HIIT training, I use a punching bag for the first time in my life (!!!!) he’s taught me how to hold my own and think with my whole body. I think its really important to understand the link between mental health and your physical health.
On my bad days, I may really not want to get up and put work into myself because I feel sorry for myself or I feel like I don’t deserve to be happy and healthy. Jerry has become an outlet for me. Sometimes I’m in a really bad mental state, Jerry gives me perspective and then I’m able to put it all aside and just focus on working towards something thats truly benefiting me. I’ve learned about foods and why everyone has always told me to eat my vegetables. I’ve learned how to nourish my body and work on making it happy. We all want to be happy, we want to learn and grow and really make ourselves proud. I do this for myself, but I could not have gotten where I am without the help I’ve had. This helps me deal with my life, deal with my brain and my frustrations. It’s been worth the investment because i’ve been investing in myself this whole time and i’m learning its probably the greatest investment I can make.
My stomach feels better (eating better)
I’m learning how to become independent in the gym
I enjoy training, i enjoy having so many dynamics in one session.
I used to play sports in high school. I would dabble with Pilates and yoga classes and half-hearted attempts at the gym having no idea what i was doing. All these people my age seem to know exactly what to do and I had no idea nor did i want to teach myself. I was nervous to workout with a trainer. I was so out of shape i was scared to take the step to get into shape. Jerry works really well with me. He helped ease me into the training which made me feel more confident and able bodied. It was cool also to have a commitment because i haven’t had many commitments, let alone recreational commitments.
I was in a wedding in June, I went to the bridal store at the very beginning of January and tried my dress on that fit like a glove. I had to wait for them to order them and went back in February. A month and a half after originally trying the dress on it needed to be taken in an inch around the waist. I knew i was getting stronger but at this time had no idea it was visible. By the time I took the dress to get alterations, around May, they took a little more than two inches off the waist of my dress. I know not everyone has a bridesmaids dress to gauge their progress, but it made me feel so good.
I think the biggest obstacle to jump was knowing the worth of all of this. it is more expensive than a gym membership for sure. but the things i can do now i would not have been able to do in a gym by myself. I’m 22, I’m definitely not financially stable but i enjoy training so much i don’t even think about the price.
“Throughout all of my exercise experiences, I never gave a thought about incorporating heavy (for me) weights into my workout routines. I always thought resistance training was for people who wanted to bulk up and weights were only used for this purpose. When my personal trainer (and family friend), Jerry Pitman, explained how resistance training would fit perfectly into my routine and allow me to reach my goals more effectively, I was surprised and quite honestly, a little scared. Weights are really intimidating and it didn’t help that I couldn’t even lift the weight off the rack to purchase it at the store because I have been a weakling all of my life. Steve still has to open the pickle jar for me but that might change after all of this training.
I decided to hire a personal trainer because I wanted to lose the almost 30 pounds that I gained over 2014 and do it in the fastest, healthiest, and most efficient way possible. My deciding factor was when I realized I was using my weight gain as an excuse to not care and eat whatever the heck I wanted. I would catch myself thinking things like, “I can eat that entire giant plate of beer battered onion rings because I’m not in shape or working out right now”. “Yes, please give me another basket of rolls because I’m not actively trying to lose weight or do anything about my recent weight gain”. Basically, I gave up on trying to be healthy and take care of my body because I knew it was going to be hard work to get back to where I was and frankly, I wanted to just sit on my butt and be a little lazy.
Personal training may not be for everyone but for me, I found it was the best way to get me moving and exercising again. I need the extra accountability from Jerry and I love how my routines are personalized for me. Jerry even tries to find alternative exercises that replace the ones I absolutely HATE and he also accommodates my bad knees. I’m so glad I chose a personal trainer over a gym membership because even though a gym membership is less expensive, I would never go and subject myself to the embarrassment of allowing other people to hear all of the whining and weird noises I make when working out.
If you’re looking to start working out or need to adjust your routine because of boredom, injury, or lack of results; I encourage you to contact Jerry and see what he has to offer. He’s very knowledgeable when it comes to exercise and nutrition and he takes a holistic approach to his training. He’s always available to give advice or encouragement and he really cares about his clients’ success. I’m already seeing dramatic results after the short amount of time we’ve been working together and I know he can get those same results for others.”
I was hesitant to sign on a personal trainer. I had always thought I could lose weight and get in shape on my own if I just knuckled down and did it. After years of disappointment, gaining weight, and poor check-ins at the doctor, I decided to start looking for some help. That’s when I found Jerry.
Ten weeks in and I’m more healthy and physically fit than I’ve ever been. Not only has Jerry helped me lose weight, but he’s somehow impacted nearly every other aspect of my life. Jerry’s holistic approach to training has helped me focus on the things that really matter in life. I’m amazed at how I push myself to build stronger and more meaningful relationships with my family, friends, and coworkers.
If you’re just looking to lose weight, Jerry might not be your guy. If you want to experience an amazing transformation (that happens to include weight loss), give him a call. You won’t be disappointed.
I came to Jerry knowing that I needed to change my workout routine and improve my overall health, but I didn’t have much time throughout the week to do it in. So far, I am really happy with the results that I’ve already seen. Jerry has shown me that it doesn’t have to take all-day workout sessions in order to see improvements – just 30 minutes, 3 times a week has worked for me. And, as a special bonus, the results I’ve seen actually make me want to do MORE exercise to reach my goals. This is especially encouraging for me, because for all my other workout attempts, I would get discouraged when I wouldn’t see anything change and end up quitting. Not this time! I would highly recommend Jerry as a personal trainer, because he’s just that: personal. He works with you and your style to get the results YOU want to see, and he’s there to help you the whole way through.
“Before I came to Pitman Fitness I got engaged and wanted to look, and feel amazing for my big day. however, I always had a hard time motivating myself to get up and do the steps required to get there! A total lack of confidence combined with an all American food diet prevented me from getting up, and seeking the help I needed. I wanted to lose weight without having to work very hard for it. What Pitman Fitness offered me was a chance to take control of my every day routine. It took me a few ‘wake up sessions’ with Jerry to realize that lack of faith in myself was preventing me from achieving anything at all.
What I really like about the training was the one on one interaction that I got. Jerry was there for every step of the way. He took the time to explain meal plans, exercises, and even taught me how to modify certain exercises so that I could still get a good work out in even if I couldn’t get the posture 100% correct. I’ve gained the knowledge about how to lose and maintain a healthy weight that I did not have before, and I feel a heck of a lot better than before I started the training.
I feel more motivated now. I feel more confident and more confident in my ability to do the exercises correctly. My leg muscles are more formed and I’ve definitely formed a little bit of a butt. You can really see it in a dress! I see some back muscles, too. Any time I run my hand over my back it feels as hard as a rock. Yet, I still maintain my girlish figure!!
I do feel my coordination is a little bit shaky still but it’s getting a lot better. And, I’m much more flexible now. I used to have such a tight back and now I can even sit in positions that I used to be in pain from before!”
If you’re considering hiring Jerry for a personal trainer, there’s a few things I’d like to tell you. I’ve been fit for most of my life (through effort NOT nature!) but being over 40 and having a couple surgeries in 6 months really put me off my game and the 15 lbs I’d gained just weren’t moving. I had just lost my motivation. I had considered a trainer in the past but every time I put feelers out I was disappointed with the responses. I stumbled across Jerry’s website and sent an email asking for more information….best thing I’ve EVER done in regards to my health!!
He is encouraging yet demanding, which is exactly what I was looking for. I have learned so much about myself, beyond just fitness, while training with him. I’m stronger than I thought I was, both physically and mentally. When I thought there was no way I could do something his faith that I could made me willing to push myself farther than I ever would have on my own. I’ve run faster, lifted more, gone farther than I ever thought I could at 47 years old 🙂 I feel like this has been an investment in myself and I’ve NEVER felt better!
Training with Jerry isn’t just about lifting more and pushing harder, he takes a whole life approach which is exactly what I needed. He looks at your nutrition, lifestyle, and goals and prepares a program that meets all your individual needs….LOVE IT!!
I started working with Jerry about three months ago. This past three months has by far been one of the most positive in my life. I’ve lost almost a total of 30 lbs as well and 2.5 inches in my waist. I will forever be grateful to him for giving me the tools I needed to finally achieve the look I want for myself. Although I still have a lot of work to do, I now feel confident enough to get there. Making the decision to change my life was the most difficult part. Once I got to that point, Jerry was right there to help me out. Hiring Jerry is the best decision you could make for yourself, it was for me!
I have had a love hate relationship with exercise my whole life. I was very active as a kid, involved in sports and loved it, but as an adult I found forcing myself to make the time for exercise became a regular struggle. Before starting to workout with Jerry I was lucky if I managed to make myself go to the gym to exercise once or twice a month. Now, I look forward to my weekly training sessions as one of the highlights of my week. I always feel better physically and emotionally after a session and have even recently found myself getting to the gym at least once or twice a week on my own in addition to my training sessions.
He changes things up regularly so we are never just doing the same old routine every time. I look forward to the new exercises and equipment he incorporates and find my confidence grows with each new exercise as I realize that I CAN do them even when they seem beyond my fitness level.
Jerry is very well educated in health and exercise sciences with a unique splash of psychology. He keeps everything very positive and enjoyable and I’ve never felt embarrassed by my physical condition or how far I have to go to get to where I want to be. He has consistently been supportive and encouraging about my ability to reach my goals. I think anyone looking to improve their lives, whether it’s wanting to lose weight, get into better shape, or training for a specific event, Jerry is the best person to help motivate and drive you into meeting those goals.
Honestly I love our workouts not only because he’s a great motivator, but also because of the conversations we always have. Jerry’s helped me find a level of clarity & self awareness that is helping me not only become more active & fit, but more focused & and motivated to make positive changes in my life in general! This has been a life changing experience for sure!
After having five kids, being a fifty-something grandma of eight, I felt it was time to do something for myself. Not feeling confident enough to get back into the gym, I decided I would try getting an in-home personal trainer. I was still hesitant but found Jerry online and we scheduled a time to meet. At that first meeting we discussed goals and the physical and mental steps I needed to reach them. A few days later we had our first session. I was anxious and tempted to back out but I knew it was something I had to do for me. After a few sessions with Jerry I became comfortable and looked forward to our two sessions every week.
Between Jerry’s encouragement to exercise and eat right, I was amazed at how quickly the changes came. Not only could I see the changes but friends, family and co-workers noticed not only the physical changes but also the changes in my attitude and self-confidence.
Jerry was there with me every step of the way. Thanks to him, I have made fitness a part of my everyday life.
I have had the great privilege of knowing Jerry for a large number of years and have been lucky enough to keep up with him when he relocated to Michigan. Due to the open lines of communication, I was able to get the guidance and motivation I needed from Jerry that has seen me turn around a downhill slide which happens to so many of us when we pass our 40’s.
What I have found most striking about Jerry is that his level of professionalism and compassion far exceeds any that I have ever experienced in a personal trainer.
When you are dealing with Jerry, you have to throw out any preconceived notions you have about what you will get from working with him. This guy is intelligent, insightful, and analytical. He was able to provide a straight forward program that has kept me on the right path over several months and has seen a nearly 50 pound weight reduction and large improvements in physical fitness.
He gathered the data he needed for his study of me with empathy and respect and then delivered his guidelines to me with the same brief and articulate manner. His mental focus and spiritual strength are evident with every conversation and they instilled in me the strongest desire to replace some habits that were contrary to my health and fitness.
I would not hesitate in recommending this person. I recommend him without any reservation. He is a true professional in the fitness career field.
I would highly recommend Jerry Pitman to anyone who is ready to change not only their health, but their whole lifestyle for the better and here is why… I have been overweight most of my life. In my adult years, I have tried many times and many ways to loose the weight with little success. I’ve joined two different gyms on two different occasions and hired two different trainers at those gyms with little and temporary results. That all changed 6 months ago when I met Jerry. For the past year or so, I watched one of my good friends change physically and mentally into a healthy, fit person with an incredible amount of energy. I had to know how she did it.
She told me about her trainer, Jerry. My first reaction was to roll my eyes and think, been there…done that. Yeah, he won’t be any different than the other two. But, I needed some kind of spark to get me to change myself, so I called Jerry. He was completely different than what I expected and have experienced in the past. Jerry spent the first couple of sessions getting to know my fitness goals and “getting inside my head.” Figuring out why I had failed in the past, so that I wouldn’t fail again. That’s what makes him such a great trainer. He doesn’t just write up an exercise plan, he trains your mind also. He works very hard to keep you with the program and help you succeed. He knows his stuff and I trust him completely with my health. So far I have lost 51 lbs and have dropped 3 sizes. I have muscle tone and have reached fitness goals I never thought I would. I haven’t been this weight in 17 years and I owe it all to Jerry! You won’t find a trainer who will work harder to help you break through what ever barrier that is keeping you from your fitness goal than Jerry Pitman.
Jerry is very detail oriented in a warm hearted way that shows you that not only does your health matter to him, but your specific triumphs and failures matter to him too.
I took advantage of his personal training services about twice a week for 6 months or so. During that time, it was not just a workout session. It was invaluable education with a path bent toward nutrition as well. One of my favorite parts about the whole journey was that he was willing to listen, research, and experiment on fitness plans tailored to safely fit my physical needs. The main concern for me in particular was always my lumbar region. I wanted to feel better without further damaging myself, but wasn’t sure of where to start. Jerry knew, and learned more along the way.
People often say that they won’t pay for physical training when they just need to “motivate” themselves. If you can accomplish that goal, then I applaud you! For the rest of us, it’s beneficial to have someone hold us accountable. Further, when our money is involved it adds another layer of “Hey, I paid for this, now I need to make it work”.
I could go on a lot longer, but I won’t. In a nutshell? Try it, Jerry is just as determined to work with you as you are to get healthier!
Currently, personal trainers seem like they’re a dime a dozen anywhere you look. Jerry Pitman, however, is a cut above the rest. Not only is the guy good at what he does, he is someone who has a passion for health and specifically YOUR overall health, that truly wants you to succeed at whatever you personal goals might be
– Cheers, and may your success continue!
Being off site, I must admit I was a bit skeptical that a personal trainer/customer relationship could work. We spoke on the phone for approximately 1 hour and during that time we discussed my goals, problem areas, and diet. You did a fantastic job at coming up with a versatile and flexible work-out plan that is personalized for me. My biggest stipulation was that I wanted to work-out at home and I am impressed that you came up with a very creative and innovative way at targeting the areas I wanted to improve upon. I feel as if you truly listened to my needs and you have shown this in my work-out plan. I believe you have a firm grasp on the big picture on how to become healthy and fit. I have enjoyed reading your literature on how to better my health. I am very motivated to keep up with the routines you have provided me. The work-outs are easy to understand and take only 30 minutes of my time. I find this very easy to put into my busy schedule and it makes me feel good to know that I have done something for myself. Thank you.
I had started and stopped so many healthy endeavors, I was feeling really down on myself and was very overweight. I had weeks of great focus and momentum followed by weeks of drive thrus and depression. Definitely felt very stuck and frustrated. I was skeptical of my own ability to follow through and commit to the process.
As a result of training, I was able to start getting moving again and break out of my rut. I lost 15 pounds in the first few months and felt great about seeing the scale move in the right direction. It was great because I didn’t have to worry about getting myself to the gym. Jerry brought the workout and motivation right to my door and I really needed that.
Jerry is a true professional with the right mix of knowledge and ability to motivate. He meets you where you are mentally and physically. He will push you during your workouts but his style is not aggressive. His workouts vary each session. He also really likes to talk through the issues you are dealing with and how to take the next best step. You can rest assured that you are in good hands when training with Jerry. He really wants the best for his clients and has a great deal of knowledge to share.
Thanks for everything, Jerry. I’m grateful life took the direction it did. I’m excited and more hopeful about what the future holds now. I really enjoyed working with you and wish you the best as you continue to develop your business.
I needed a personal trainer since I was enlisting in the Army and wanted to be in shape and ready for basic training. I enjoyed training with Jerry mainly from his motivation and drive. I could tell he’s passionate about fitness and health. I would recommend Jerry over another trainer because you ask for change, he gives you the results you want. Jerry has a great heart and he cares about his clients.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my fitness program – both exercise and diet. Adding IT (Interval Training) to both weight lifting and aerobics made a big difference. I am really sweating now, and am very tired at the end of the workouts. The diet seems to be about right. I am not feeling hungry and I feel that I could stay on this plan forever.
Best news – lost 10 lbs! At this rate I will hit target weight by end of year.
WOW. Plan to continue losing weight, and gaining strength, and flexibility through the rest of the year! Life is looking good.
